Last Friday, HAB Housing worked together with United Communities and the Bristol Free School as part of an enterprise day to inspire the students. The youngsters had the chance to create their own housing development, and come up with exciting brand new schemes for a real life development site.
The day looked at the potential for housing on our site at the former Dunmail Primary School in Southmead. The students were introduced by Bristol’s Mayor - Marvin Rees and HAB Chairman Kevin McCloud, who recorded a short film to encourage creativity and innovation. We wanted them to think about how their new development could fit with the existing housing and natural surroundings, and the results were incredible!
The pupils presented their schemes to a Dragons Den-style presentation to a panel of experts including Cllr. Paul Smith who is the lead for Housing and Communities within Bristol. We loved seeing the different ideas the students came up with! In addition to this day we offered interview skills to the young people about to leave the school next year.
An absolutely fantastic day of new ideas for affordable housing, the future of architecture just got a bit sunnier!
