One of our earlier schemes, Barn’s Place in Oxford picked up one of just seven prizes handed out at the prestigious Oxford Preservation Trust Awards 2017.
The ceremony, which marked the Awards’ 40th anniversary, was held at St Catherine’s College, where a crowd of 200 gathered to recognise some of Oxford’s best new developments.
HAB Housing led the design, consultation, and planning on the Barn’s Place scheme, which comprises affordable housing, private flats, and a range of community and retail facilities.
Andrew Smith of housing association GreenSquare Group, who were HAB’s partner in the design and planning stages and went on to build the scheme, collected the award. He said:
“We are absolutely thrilled with the award. It’s a great scheme for Oxford, with 50% social housing, and the profits from the private flats going back into other social housing schemes. It’s great to be recognised.”
Other winners of the evening included the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, The Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre at Worcester College, the restoration of Corpus Christi Chapel, and the refurbishment of Jesus College dining hall.
